Wow, what a wonderful experience. I was so privileged to photograph Jesse Clegg and Theuns Jordaan at D'aria's Summer Concert on Sunday! The music was amazing, the atmosphere was full of life - I loved it! It has always been a dream of mine to work backstage... wow, it was everything I dreamt of! The best bit was to realize that they aren't just great performers, but wonderful people - it was great spending time with them. I hope you enjoy the moments that I tried to capture... all I can say, is that it was a day to remember :-)

Baby Nurah

I've met Nurah's mum when she was still expecting her, and since then we have spoken about doing a photo shoot when the baby is born. And on Friday, I met Nurah for the first time and she is so cute. Every time I spoke to her, she just starts laughing out of her tummy, as if she understands every world I am saying! Dit is 2010 en dit beteken net een ding, FIFA World Cup!!!! Ek was so gelukkig om op die 24ste Junie saam met goeie vriende Groenpunt Stadion toe te gaan vir die wedstyd tussen Holland en Kamaroon. Dit was 'n ongelooflike gevoel! Ek het nog nooit soveel mense in Oranje bymekaar gesien nie! Ek ken nie veel van sokker af nie, ek het net geweet wat is 'n Vuvuzela en wie is David Becham en Cristiano Ronaldo, maar nou kan ek trots se ek is 'n sokker kenner, of soort van :-) Ek sien al klaar uit na die volgende Wereldbeker in Brazil! Ek is opgewonde om te kan se "ek was daar en dit was AYOBA"

Waar begin ek! Lizelle is my flatmate (al vir die afgelope jaar en 'n half), vriendin, gym buddy, suster en een van die beste fotograwe in die wêreld! Gaan maak gerus 'n draai op haar website! Sy is die mooiste persoon van binne en buite! Ek dink nie ek het haar al ooit kwaad gesien nie:-) Lizelle het verlede jaar 'n shoot van my gedoen en dit is net reg dat ek vir haar ook een doen! Ek dink ons het altwee baie geleer op die shoot, ek oor fotografie en Lizelle oor hoe dit voel om voor die kamera te wees en nie agter hom nie! Baie dankie aan die wonderlike en beste Sebastine Pepler wat haar pragtige make-up en hare gedoen het! Sebastine, jy het my flatmate soos 'n model laat lyk :-) Dankie Zella vir al die geselsies, giggels, en al die koffies op die stoep! Ons gaan nog baie sports he, saam huil en saam lag, sien jy daai plek.........

Athena and I studied film and tv make-up at Prestige Academy in 2005. Last week I received a phone call from Athena and she asked me if I can take some make-up portfolio shots for her. I was so exited to see her and my make-up teacher again. Thank you to the models (Athena's friends) , Robin, Laurian, Licrecia and Cotlin. You were awesome!

Ek ken Salomé al 'n paar jaar, my broer is getroud met haar suster. Ons kom al deur baie goeie en snaakse tye saam en sy voel al soos 'n suster vir my. Sy en haar niggie, Alriette en 'n vriendin, Janine bly die jaar saam in 'n woonstel in Welgevonden Estate, Stellenbosch. Hulle het vir my gevra of ek nie fotos van hulle kan neem vir hulle nuwe woonstel nie.. Ek kon nie daai kans laat verby gaan nie, want ek het geweet dit kan net "fun" wees. En was dit nie. Die van julle wat hulle drie ken sal weet hoe lekker hulle kan lag. Dis altyd lekker om by hulle te gaan koffie (of 'n wyntjie) drink, jy word altyd met ope arms verwelkom en voel sommer dadelik tuis. Dankie julle 3 vir 'n lekker "shoot". Ek sien julle weer by ons volgende kuiertjie. xxx

Barend & Cobie engagement shoot

Cobie het my so paar maande gelede gebel en gevra of ek hulle trouefotos sal neem,. Aangesien ek nie troues doen nie het ek vir haar gese dat ek vir hulle 'n engagement shoot sal doen. En was dit nie 'n plesier nie. Cobie het soveel "props" saam gebring, van balonne, bubbles, hoedjies, 'n sambreel tot 'n bankie. Baie dankie Cobie en Barend vir 'n baie lekker "shoot" en die lekker lag. Dit was lekker om julle te leer ken! Hoop julle geniet die fototjies.....

My early Christmas surprise!

On Friday, after our end of year function, my friend Christine Meintjes surprised me with the most awesome gift ever. A Canon 50D and a 50mm f/1.4 lens. I talked to Christine about buying a camera and she agreed to help me purchase it. I'll be paying her back over time as I do shoots. But I didn't expected it to be so soon. This is so cool! Now I can be trigger happy this holiday. So here is how it happened :

For the past week I've been living with Christine, as I'm only moving into my new flat this week. After packing my bags for the weekend, I went down to the kitchen. Now that I think of it, it was a bit strange that everyone was sitting around the table and looking at me :) They told me that I should put my bags in the car. When I came back, there was a huge package with pink ribbon (my favorite coulor) waiting for me on the table. As always Christine had a camera in her hands. Last night while editing some photos I came across this photo. My friend Lizelle Lotter grabbed the mouse from me and started editing the photo. I realized that this was actually a cool photo. It was taken with a 5omm f/1.4 lens I hired for my cousins wedding. This lens is a must have for all photographers. So spoil yourself this Christmas...........

Ek het vir Carmi laas gesien toe sy nog 'n babatjie was, toe ek haar Vrydag sien kon ek nie glo sy het so groot geword nie. Dit was so lekker om die mooie sussies afteneem. Ek wou nie die kamera neer sit nie. Ek kan sommer sien klein Minke gaan net so mooi wees soos haar sussie en ma!

Roelien is my cousin and when se asked me to photograph her wedding, I was so exited. I was very nervous, because this was going to be my first wedding on my own. On the 8th of August, I was very lucky to get some tickets to watch SA play Australia on Newlands. What some of you don't know, I am a huge rugby supporter. So I took my dad's "mik en druk" camera with and took a few photos from the stands. It was very hard to get non blured photos, because the players on the field was running all the time. When I was on holiday, my father woke me up very early in the morning and said that I have to take photos of the sun coming up. He said it was going to be beautiful. So I took my camera and he took his and off we went into the field, with slipper and pajamas and still sleeping. And in a few seconds, I got 3 different background colors as the sun made it's appearance. It was worth the early wake up call.

Some times when assisting someone it's very difficult to get shots of your own because you always need to be on the ball when the photographer needs your help getting her a lens or to hold the reflector etc, to help her or him get that perfect shot.

A few weeks ago on Pasella, they advertised that they are looking for a new presenter. I was so exited, because I love Pasella and I always dreamed of becoming a presenter of a TV show. So I grabbed the opportunity with both hands and I asked my photographer friend, Lizelle Lotter, if she can take some picture of me. The closing date is on the 31st of December and they will let you know in the first week of January if you are through to the next round. This is our dog. His name is Lafras. He is the most spoiled and smartest dog that I have ever seen. He only eats chicken and sometimes you must feed him with your hands. He is the King of the house and the farm. He gets very angry with his "oupa" , thats my dad, if he doesn't take him with to go "boer". He loves it when you take photos of him. A weekend at the see

We are 3 children, my brother, me and my sister. We are all finished studying so we don't see each other or our parents that often. For a weekend we went to Tergniet, near Hartenbos to stay at Sune's parents beach house together with her family. We took the opportunity to capture the time we had together and what fun it was.
